In a very loaded 9th
grade girls division, Bay State Magic Elite is still the team to beat until a
team dethrones them. BSME, coached by Jim Wardwell, has captured two
consecutive D1 MA state championships and finished third at the Nationals last
summer.
BSME plans to attend
the best tournaments on the east coast such as Basketball HOF Tip-Off, North
East Elite Showcase, Deep South Classic, Commotion by the Ocean, Gym Rat
Challenge, Nike US Nationals and Blue Chip Showcase in Philly.
This up-tempo team
showcases some of the best players in the state including Jen Worden (Abington),
Hayley Wardwell (Cardinal Spellman), Joie Grassi (Plymouth North), Meaghan Raab
(Hanover), Haley Blasetti (Hingham 8th grade), Ally Dillon (Braintree),
Vanessa Nichols (Silver Lake), Ashley Cadorette (Dartmouth), and Gordon (Holy
Name).
This team has a roster
loaded with players that contribute on their varsity team already, but Coach
Wardwell cites that the team goal is to have all the players make significant
varsity contributions as sophomores.
I plan on following
this team closely as they hit some of the best tournaments in the country.
