8th Grade Girls
The MPC Swish improved to 11-0 on the season after downing
two 10th grade teams at the Cape Cod Waves tournament last Saturday.
MPC Swish 69
CT Cobras 38
The Swish jumped out to a 12-2 lead and never looked back.
Three players reached double digit scoring in the win led by Anna Shaughnessy’s
16 points on efficient 7-11 shooting and also hauled in eight rebounds. Kaylin
Reen continued her torrid shooting streak as she tossed in three 3-pointers en
route to 11 points. Combo-guard Nicole Gallagher slashed her way to 10 points
and added four steals.
MPC Swish 42
VT Pacers 40
Initially not thrilled about having to play an 8th
grade team, the scrappy 10th grade VT team was unable to outlast the
local 8th grade squad. The Pacers held a 20-16 edge at halftime, but
the Swish clamped down in the second half and won a close battle. Again, Anna
Shaughnessy led the scoring charge with 12 points and added seven rebounds.
Tess Sussman nearly had a double-double with eight points and eight rebounds.
Kiera Fernandes contributed with a little bit of everything as she stuffed the
stat sheet with six points, five rebounds, two steals and two blocks. As usual,
Ashley Sampson steadied the ship from the point guard spot and finished with seven
points and three assists.
